About Us
In recent years, traditional pest species have developed resistance to numerous traditionally-employed chemicals and naturally occurring pesticides used in Canada and the North American continent for the control and/or elimination of various pest species. The latter practice has resulted in similar resistance problems as encountered by widespread antibiotic use. Insecticides such as permethrins no longer provide similar assurance of control as they did in the past, with the environmental movement resulting in other pesticides such as DDT banned in North America and a resurgence of bedbugs that hitherto were entirely eliminated following WW2. To obtain control of these and other difficult-to-control pests, higher concentrations of pesticides have been employed producing significant negative impacts on public health and the environment.
Our Goals
City Pest Control provides environmentally friendly treatments in comparison to traditional pest control companies. We strive to offer innovative solutions reducing the exposure of your family and pets to toxic pesticides by employing "green solutions" whenever possible, limiting concentrations of single chemicals and using natural-based formulations so pests already resistant to widely-employed pesticides not only fail to develop additional resistance, but succumb more rapidly. Our practices result in our staff members and clients having a safer environment that ultimately proves to be in everyone's best-interests. We also recognize the importance of confidentiality and discretion is our watchword. Our technicians are sensitive to your needs and insure your property and assets receive the utmost respect and care.
Our People
City Pest Control is run and staffed by experienced biologists having at least a B.Sc. in biology specializing in pest control, rather than using chemical application technicians with no biological background. Because public health and safety are no less important to us than pest eradication and control, maintaining the delicate balance between a healthy and pest-free environment and finding ecological solutions to pest problems marks the difference between what City Pest Control offers by comparison to other pest control companies claiming "Integrated Pest Management". While chemical application technicians may be well-trained and skilled applicators, having both a strong academic background and practical experience reduces not only health risks to your family, but increases the effectiveness of control methods. Because the life cycle of the pest is known to our biologists, pests can be targeted at critical developmental stages and eradicated prior to becoming epidemic. Before deciding upon any treatment regime to obtain control, City Pest Control biologists works with you to determine whether you and your family have significantly higher health risks so other options including biological controls, use of mechanical devices, baiting for pests and sanitation measures at the site should be employed, with a combination of different measures often more effective for obtaining rapid control and eliminating pests than a single approach. Following treatment, we provide detailed reports on measures taken and recommendations for clients to follow so control is maintained. We guarantee our services, which means that if we are unable to eradicate and control your pest problems, our remediation services are without additional costs to you.
